COFAN TRIBE
REPLAYWe work with The Cofan tribe near Aguarico River. They live in harmony with nature and are guardians of jungle secrets. They speak San Miguel dialect in Colombia and Aguarico in Ecuador. Their diet consists mainly of corn, manioc, bananas, and fish. They live in self-built houses close to nature.
The Cofan's sacred medicine is Yage (Ayahuasca), which is used by children and adolescents to mark their transition into adulthood. The tribe doesn't have a social hierarchy, but their shamans are highly respected for their knowledge of nature-assisted healing. They bridge the communication between the physical and spiritual worlds. It's an honor that they share their wisdom with others.
